Let the trumpet sound with gladness!

1.
Let the trumpet sound with gladness!
It’s the year of jubilee!
Every debt shall be forgiven
In this year of liberty.
All in bondage shall be freed,
In God’s Word He has decreed.
All demands shall be relinquished
In the year of jubilee.
2.
Jesus brought us these glad tidings:
It’s the year of jubilee!
Let the slaves be liberated,
Every prisoner set free.
Let the blind receive their sight—
All in darkness see God’s light.
See Him heal the brokenhearted
In the year of jubilee.
3.
We can live with great rejoicing
In this year of jubilee.
All our sins have been forgiven;
We shall live eternally.
From our flesh we’re being freed,
All its lusts no more to heed,
Free to walk in Jesus’ Spirit
In the year of jubilee.
4.
As ambassadors of Jesus
In the year of jubilee,
We can follow His example,
Daily setting pris’ners free.
When I’m hated and despised,
If my own life I’ve denied,
I can love my foes and bless them
In this year of jubilee.
5.
Lord, I’ll also be forgiving,
Just as You’ve forgiven me,
Be longsuff’ring and forbearing
On the way of victory.
Tender mercies I’ll put on
When I’m scorned and spat upon,
Free to love with joy and goodness
In the year of jubilee.
