Teach me the way of Your suff'rings, I pray

1.
Teach me the way of Your suff’rings, I pray—
To walk in the truth, never fail, come what may.
My spirit rejoices; my heart’s filled with praise,
For right in the suff’ring Your hand guides my ways.
I live and I flourish in grace You outpour.
I’m by Your Word nourished and strengthened still more.
O cleanse and transform me, Your glory to gain, Lord.
I know that where You are, I’ll also remain, Lord.
2.
Give me Your love that is deep, strong, and pure.
You work in me gloriously; help me endure
Till Your work is finished. You’ll work till the day
I praise You in heav’n, when You call me away.
O may I be humble and meek just like You,
My cross bearing gladly whate’er I go through.
To You, Rock and Savior, I look—onward take me.
I know that You never will leave nor forsake me.
3.
Give me a spirit of power and might
Against all lukewarmness to fervently fight.
O help me a servant for You always be.
Purge out all the pride that’s still dwelling in me;
For You’re like a pure and unquenchable flame.
My self-life consume; I relinquish my claim.
In You I’ll abide, Lord—You’re all I desire.
For You I will fight, glorious vict’ry acquire.
4.
Lord, when my sojourn is over at last,
And battles and trials forever are past,
I’ll see You, dear Savior, when life here is done—
Eternal Lord Jesus, God’s own blessed Son.
I never will hunger or thirst anymore.
I’ll satisfied be when I see You, dear Lord.
O help me to pray, Lord—extol You, most glorious,
Almighty Lord Jesus, all wise and victorious!
