Many years I with the crowds was driven round,
But within my heart no rest or peace I found.
Then one day the light of Jesus for me shined.
God be praised! His light brought truth to heart and mind.
Light for me shined! Life I did find.

Many souls are by defeat so burdened down.
In their restlessness and need they’re driven round.
Grief and sorrow for their lives is what they find.
God be praised that life and truth for me has shined.
Light for me shined! Life I did find.

With His Word the Lord will comfort those who grieve,
For He frees the heavy laden who believe.
Think, when you sought God in need, then you did find
His clear light that brings the truth to heart and mind.
Light for you shined! Life you did find.

From above God sends His light which we receive.
And its work it does in all who will believe,
Bringing light where they before no life could find;
Therefore praise the Lord that now His light has shined.
Light now has shined! Life we now find.
