1.
Jesus to the Mount of Olives
In the evening went to pray.
He was steadfast in His vision
Of His Father’s chosen way.
He did only what pleased His Father.
In His mouth no guile was found.
He was all that He professed to—
God’s Messiah, Son of Man.
In the evening went to pray.
He was steadfast in His vision
Of His Father’s chosen way.
He did only what pleased His Father.
In His mouth no guile was found.
He was all that He professed to—
God’s Messiah, Son of Man.
2.
When the morning light was breaking,
Jesus then arose from prayer.
Pow’r from God to always triumph
He with cries and tears gained there—
Thus to bear the day’s weighty burdens,
Pow’r to go the narrow way.
Though God’s Son, He learned obedience
Through His suff’rings day by day.
Jesus then arose from prayer.
Pow’r from God to always triumph
He with cries and tears gained there—
Thus to bear the day’s weighty burdens,
Pow’r to go the narrow way.
Though God’s Son, He learned obedience
Through His suff’rings day by day.
3.
Jesus crossed the brook called Kidron
On the night He was betrayed.
He was sure His way was ending.
There He to His Father prayed
In great anguish, while sweat was pouring
Like great blood drops from His brow:
“If it’s possible, dear Father,
Let this cup pass from Me now.”
On the night He was betrayed.
He was sure His way was ending.
There He to His Father prayed
In great anguish, while sweat was pouring
Like great blood drops from His brow:
“If it’s possible, dear Father,
Let this cup pass from Me now.”
4.
Thank You, Jesus, You have triumphed!
I can triumph now through You.
You did call me; You did choose me.
I’ll life’s narrow way walk too.
In my deepest trials You give me
Strength You gained through suffering.
Thank You, Jesus, I in You have
Strength and courage—everything!
I can triumph now through You.
You did call me; You did choose me.
I’ll life’s narrow way walk too.
In my deepest trials You give me
Strength You gained through suffering.
Thank You, Jesus, I in You have
Strength and courage—everything!
