A holy people now does grow

1.
A holy people now does grow,
A people to God’s praise,
So still and hid—without a show.
The Word directs their ways.
They love God’s laws and righteousness.
You’ve never seen the likes of this!
They bear God’s scepter at their side.
This people is Christ’s bride.
2.
The Lord has purged this people in
The fire of lowliness.
They’re humble, meek, and bowed within.
God’s gentle hand does this.
They’re filled with life and peace so blest,
With mercy, quietness, and rest.
They bear the same reproach and scorn
The Lamb of God has borne.
3.
This people with great willingness
Their fees and taxes pay.
They’re striving after righteousness
In all they do and say.
If any are weighed down by debt,
To pay it back their minds are set—
From all unrighteousness to be
Forevermore set free.
4.
Upon the Day of Christ there’ll stand
A host of priests with might,
A host of kings at God’s command.
In His great war they’ll fight—
A host as strong as Zion’s mount,
Who have no sin on their account.
All lands and peoples then shall see
Their zeal and fervency.
