Youth, O use the time you’re given
In life’s fleeting days of spring.
What you sow you’ll later harvest.
Think what harvest it will bring.
Do not linger with the earthly.
Make God’s Word your guide each day,
That you always through your lifetime
Walk upon the narrow way.

Beauty fades and charm will vanish;
Blest are they who fear God’s name.
Blest are they whom Christ finds ready
When He comes His bride to claim.
Lose your life, this world forsaking;
Life eternal you will gain
If with diligence in small things
Always faithful you remain.

In your ground sow seed for Jesus.
Let it grow there deep inside.
O’er His own His watch ne’er ceases
As He forms Himself a bride.
You will not regret it later
If you pleasure’s way refuse,
And in early, happy youth time
Jesus’ way of life you choose.
