A Completely Normal Christian Life

When trials come, we must find our way before the throne of grace. “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” .

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” . It’s easy to go astray when we are tempted.People think, for example, that I am the only one in the whole world who is tempted like this, but the truth is that everyone is tempted.Even Jesus was tempted. In Heb.2:18 it says that since He Himself has been tempted and has suffered (note the order—Danish translation), He is able to aid those who are tempted.

So it is completely normal to be tempted, but it must also become normal to overcome when we are tempted. Then we must seek help from Him who can help us, that is, the One who Himself has been tempted and has suffered = has overcome. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” . We do this before the throne of grace. Here we meet Him who conquered, Jesus, the King of kings. There is no sin or tribulation that He cannot help us with. “I have given help to one who is mighty,” writes the Psalmist.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” . Notice it said: “in everything.” We can therefore come before the throne of grace with “everything.” Then help will come, and victory, and peace that surpasses all understanding. There before the throne of grace, our connection with the God of heaven is strengthened. May we always remain there! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” . He can really come to our aid.

Difficult situations can arise in life—completely unexpectedly. A dark cloud suddenly appears on the horizon. There could be long-lasting situations. There could be situations that are completely hidden from everyone else. Our faith is tested. “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” .

This is actually a completely normal Christian life.
