What Am I Waiting For?

“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.” . The battle we stand in is one of faith. It says I should arise, and then the light will come. I have to do that in faith. I have to hold onto something that doesn’t exist yet as if it did.

In it says to lay aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking. How am I to do that? It is by faith! I can make up my mind, and arise. Then the light comes. Further on it is written about desiring the pure milk of the word, like newborn babes, so that I can grow thereby unto salvation; but only if I have tasted that the Lord is good. When I do that, I arise by faith and drink of the pure milk of the word, Then I taste that the Lord is good. And then God is close to me. He comforts, strengthens, and gives light; exactly what I need in my situations, but I have to lay hold of it by faith.

James writes about looking in a mirror and then forgetting what we look like. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.” .

We live in a time when there is a great grace over us. The word is preached in purity and clarity, and it is a light that shines and shows me the way to life. If I am to grow unto salvation, then I must do what I see when the light shines. Then I grow unto salvation. I lay hold of something I didn’t have to begin with, but that I get light over. When I do that, and I remain standing in my situations, then I grow thereby unto salvation.

So what am I waiting for? Then I need to arise in the spirit of faith, saying, “By my God!” as David writes in : “For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.” Then I will experience what my heart is longing for and my God will become my strength, comfort and help in my situations.
