Living and Blessing by the Power of God
“For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.” 2 Cor. 13:4.
When people, for example, look down on us or gossip about us, we can feel powerless. But God prepared for us a “way of escape” if we follow Jesus. 1 Cor. 10:13. He did not open His mouth and He allowed His life to be taken from the earth. Acts 8:32-33. Then people had full freedom to think and say just what they wanted to Him or about Him. He found an offering for sin in Himself, and was able to forgive everyone. Is. 53:10.
If we are willing to die to our own ego, own name, own reputation, and the desire to be well-treated, we can gain the life of Jesus: “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” 1 Pet. 3:18. With this life-giving Spirit He could draw people to God.
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and have a living hope that we shall live with Him by the power of God. 1 Pet. 1:3. Then we can bless those who look down on us or gossip about us. And praise be to God, this hope never disappoints!
