Unlimited Possibilities
In advertisements, you can, for example, sometimes read that a certain education offers “unlimited possibilities.” The question is whether this is actually true. Everything in this world has limits, and science and technology are constantly attempting to push the boundaries.
But in the kingdom of heaven, the possibilities are truly unlimited. It is written about Jesus that He humbled Himself, in contrast to Satan who exalted himself. Satan wanted to be like God: “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.” Isa. 14:14. This same tendency dwells in our flesh because of the Fall of Man. As a human being, we want to ascend, which is why there is so much turmoil in this world. It’s crowded on the way that goes up.
But on the way of humiliation, there are unlimited possibilities to humble ourselves and to esteem others more highly than ourselves. We can be a servant to all as much as our heart desires. No one can stop me, it’s wide open to anyone who wants to. This is a glorious way that brings great joy and rest.
“Learn from me”, Jesus says. He has walked on this way before us. We can learn meekness and lowliness from Him. Matt. 11:29. Now it’s up to us to make use of these unlimited possibilities on the way of humiliation, in the midst of this troubled and chaotic world!
One day, He will transform our lowly body that it will be conformed to His glorious body. Phil. 3:21. Just think what a glory that will be!
Eternal thanks to Jesus and God our Father, who have made this possible for us.
