Do You Believe God’s Word?

“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” Ps. 125:1.

To put our confidence in the Lord in all the situations and circumstances of life is to trust blindly and firmly in God’s own word as it is written in the Bible, and not according to our own interpretation. Believing in God’s word exactly as it is written brings peace and rest to our thoughts and our hearts—rest from everything that can cause turmoil within us and disturb our peace and joy.

Think that we can come to rest from such things as high thoughts, envious thoughts, demands on others, antipathy, strife, lustful thoughts, thoughts of honor, fame, and earthly riches. These are the thoughts that often torment people. Deep down, most people likely want to live a safe, good, and stable life where such thoughts do not torment them.

It is possible for everyone who really wants to, to come to this rest. The condition is that we truly believe God’s word firmly regarding working out our own salvation, so that we can enter into this rest. “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” “For we who have believed do enter that rest.” Heb. 4:2-3.

If this is to become a reality in us, then we must not allow calculating, logical, human reasoning to draw us away from our faith in God’s word. These thoughts must be crucified and condemned from our hearts and minds. This means that I must take up a battle against these negative forces and these spirits that try to influence my inner life. Those who want to enter this kingdom of peace must take upon themselves the effort and battle that it takes to fight against these forces in their thoughts. By faith, God will give them His strength— all those who fight for this kingdom with a whole and undivided heart.

All progress and development in God’s kingdom takes place through simple faith, not through human intellect and clever thoughts. For this reason it is crucial that we truly believe in the gospel and firmly and fully believe in God’s word. Then we can lay aside everything that weighs us down and we can run forward—freely, joyfully, and unburdened—on the path that the Lord has prepared for each one of us.

God has prepared our path, our lives, and our works beforehand so that we may walk in them. He has planned our lives in every detail. Let us therefore be simple in our faith here. Then life will become so much simpler and less complicated compared to those who strive to do their own will.

We must work out our own salvation, so that through faith we can melt together with the words of God that we hear and that the Spirit speaks to us in our hearts. Then the word will be profitable and beneficial to us. Then we will also be able to be a blessing, a help, and a guide for the coming generations—our children and grandchildren.

May the struggle, toil, and circumstances of earthly life not draw us away from this glory that can be won every day. Just think that God Himself has chosen you and me to live this life! Let us run this inward race so that we may receive a rich and heavenly life in the short time that we are down here.
