Prayer Unto Life

When I pray, it is often: “May I be free from this suffering, from this need!” “Let this cup pass from me!” Matt. 26:39. But my prayer needs to be more clear: Jesus prayed—He even prayed before His greatest trial, and added: “Nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

I also want to learn to pray in this way. Not as someone who wants to get out of it, but as someone who wants to learn obedience through what he suffers. “But for this purpose I came to this hour.” John 12:27.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matt. 6:33. I seek deliverance, but do I have eyes to see what God wants to give me? I have already received what I prayed for, only in a better way. Mark 11:24.

Do I allow earthly things to be tools in God’s hands, or do I seek them as an escape from the tribulations?
