The Evidence of a Living Faith

Convincing evidence for having received a living faith in being a partaker of a heavenly calling is that you are very persistent in reading the Bible, in order to be diligent to take to heart all the glory of the life you are called to partake of. How could you possibly avoid doing this if you are fully convinced that all this will happen in your life?!

When I have received this full assurance, it is obviously impossible not to do it! How could I avoid having a living interest in something so unspeakably great and glorious if I really believed it was mine? This simply cannot be done!

Another convincing, incontestable evidence for having received such a living faith is that all earthly things become like dung and loss compared to the heavenly treasures. This means that I have joy in giving them away, and that I rejoice when I suffer the loss of earthly things; they do not make me happy and they do not make me sad, and I would rather have very little of them, preferably of the simplest kind. I do not have a living interest in them in any way. On the contrary!
