Wisdom’s House

Wisdom’s House

“Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars . . . .” Read Proverbs 9:1-12.

“Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells.” Ps. 26:8.

From the perfect house of wisdom, which rests on seven pillars, the invitation to feast and to partake of instruction is sent out to the simple and the upright. There we receive true knowledge concerning everything that enriches us for eternity: everything that is built up by God’s wisdom, while everything else is perishing.

The five wise virgins were enriched and became joyful by means of this wisdom. They had forsaken everything in order to partake of wisdom’s glory, which never vanishes. They entered the house in order to learn how to live according to the laws of wisdom. There the eternal light was ignited that radiated from everything they said and did. The darkness of night that encircled them could not extinguish this clear light.

Wisdom is the greatest glory that God can give us. Only in this perfect wisdom can we melt together with the Father, the Son, and with each other in perfect brotherhood.

“Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” Prov. 14:1. Folly is only capable of tearing down and destroying. It cannot build up anything of lasting value. God knows our folly and wisdom by everything we say and do. Ps. 69:65.

“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.” Prov. 9:9.

“Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.” Prov. 27:22.

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.” Prov. 12:15.

It is folly to rely on yourself and be opinionated. A wise man is humble and receives grace to do everything in the right way. Eccl. 10:10.

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Rom. 11:33.

If we lack wisdom, we need to pray for it without doubting. Jas. 1:5-6. “The wise in heart will receive [God’s] commands, but a prating fool will fall.” Prov. 10:8.

We must not spare the “self” generation. Self-justification, self-reliance, self-pity, being occupied with ourselves, self-exaltation, self-will, reproaching ourselves, etc., must be eradicated from our lives.

Paul writes in Galatians 2:20, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

With this understanding of life heaven is open to us.
