“Till We All Come . . .
to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ . . . [so that we] may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ . . . .” Eph. 4:13-15.
What shall we say to this? What do you think about this, dear brother and sister? What does this mean? What does Paul mean by it? If you believe this, then you will seek it with everything that is in you! Then you have an extraordinary, living interest in it, and you do not have a living interest in anything else.
Of course then God will reveal the meaning of these words to you and how they can be fulfilled in your life, and He will give you all the grace and power and love and wisdom that are needed so that it shall really succeed, with the result that you will come to experience it in its fullness!!!
Paul wrote: until we all attain to this divine life. This is truly written with calculated precision, without any hidden meaning.
For example, we read, “In all things . . . .” This is in complete harmony with James 1:4: “Perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Here we read it three times in a row: perfect, complete, lacking nothing. Then you have grown up in all things to the head—Christ—and have attained to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
What a goal that is! What fullness! What divine life-content! Then you have truly overcome all things. Eph. 6:13.
This is also in agreement with Paul’s words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13. Yes, he was always able to be good, even if all the others were evil; he was able to suffer all kinds of injustice, requite all evil with good, love the others more the less they loved him. He was always able not to be anxious, and to be in full rest in God irrespective of how much unrest there was around him; he was able—humanly speaking—to do the most unbelievable things. As truly as we have such a high goal, we will also reach it—not otherwise! Have faith in God! Have faith in His Word! Do not permit yourself to doubt!!!
