Salvation by Jesus’ Life

After we have been reconciled to God by Jesus’ death, we are in a position to partake of a much greater salvation by Jesus’ life. Romans 5:10. This is a salvation from the soulish life to the spiritual life. We partake of this salvation by humbling ourselves and by being obedient to the point of death. We are cleansed from manifest sins (1 John 1:9) by the forgiveness of sins, but salvation by Jesus’ life cleanses us from our soulish life. Verse 7.

When Jesus was found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, being obedient even to the point of death. Philippians 2:8. Most people never find their human nature. Jesus found it and put it to death. Because this human nature was of the seed of David, it fell under the same law as David’s flesh: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. It has to go through death—His death, which He died to sin once for all. Romans 6:10. This death became effective through humility and obedience, and it was Jesus’ personal death. He suffered from the time He came into the world (Hebrews 10:5-7) until He expired on the cross. Thus Jesus became a mediator between God and man. Through Jesus’ death, all of David’s nature was overcome, and all soulish life was poured out. Through His death, He took away the first (the sacrifices according to the law), and established the second (the sacrifice of the body). Hebrews 10:9. Thus He broke down the middle wall of division, the enmity, and created in Himself one new man from the two—the Jew and the Gentile. Ephesians 2:14-16. He tasted death for us (Hebrews 2:9); and after everything was finished, God could say, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You.” Hebrews 7:28 and 5:5. Jesus had become the first brother. Now we shall go through the same death to become His fellow brothers.

Those who are not crucified with Christ—religious people—see only Jesus’ death on Calvary and not the death which He died daily. 1 Peter 3:18. These are foreign words to them and they stumble because of their unbelief in God’s word. 1 Peter 2:8.

The death that passes over the human nature which Jesus found is the same death that now passes over the church, the members of His body. Ephesians 5:30-32. This is the death which the antichrist explains away. People’s eyes are blinded so they cannot see that it was Jesus as the Son of Man who crushed the serpent’s head and overcame the flesh of David.

Through this knowledge of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome even as He overcame. We shall sit together with Him on His throne even as He also overcame and sat down with His Father on His throne. Revelation 3:21.

When Jesus came into the world, His body cast a shadow. Colossians 2:17. When He cried out “It is finished!” it was light through and through. Verse 9. The author of our salvation was perfected forever. Hebrews 2:10.

Now we can receive salvation by His life; and through this salvation, the desires in the flesh are put to death.
