Keep Yourself Unspotted From the World

James 1:27

James guarantees that this is a religion that is pure and unspotted, in contrast to various other forms of religion that are easily defiled by something sinful.

This religion is therefore highly recommended. This is also in complete harmony with the exhortation in Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world . . . .” Instead of following the fashions and customs of this world and submitting to the dictates of the high priests of fashion, we must prove what the will of God is for ourselves, what is useful and what is pleasing in God’s eyes. It is not at all becoming for us to imitate anything that this world’s ungodliness, vanity, and madness can invent.

The main ingredient of this world’s so-called good breeding and etiquette or so-called good form is hypocrisy. The expression, “To make a good appearance,” speaks for itself—clearly and plainly. It is a key expression for unadulterated hypocrisy.

When you buy something that you, strictly speaking, do not need, you have clearly been defiled by this world’s covetousness, which is idolatry! This is quite a common sin among believers, and only a few of them are completely undefiled by it. Therefore wake up in earnest and sin no more! Let it be your honor to please your Lord and Master! Let it be your honor to keep yourself unspotted from the world!

It would certainly profit you immensely if you made every effort to please Jesus Christ, instead of seeking to please people!!
