Those Who Hate Peace
They love strife and love to disagree, are quarrelsome, and use every opportunity to oppose; generally speaking, they are prepared to contradict. This terrible fault causes them not to notice it themselves. They almost view it as something useful and natural. They belong to the sons of tumult. For such people, contradicting is a matter of course and as natural as breathing—they see it as their task in this world.
Here this word of Scripture applies: “The light that is in you is darkness . . . .” Matt. 6:23. It is an outrageous and thorough misunderstanding!
The peaceable person is of the same mind as David: “I am [only] for peace.” Ps. 120:7. Instead of using opportunities to contradict, the person uses them to agree with the other person as long as it is not a matter of sinning.
