Only Two Groups
“He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; who is holy, let him become more sanctified.”
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.”
Now there is a very large group whom we call “the unsaved.” There are millions of them. Then there is also a group who are called “believers”—or those who are saved. There are also millions of them. This last group is divided into many different denominations, each with their own name. Jesus prays: “Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.”
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Read John 17:11-21.
Today it is obvious that all these religious groups are becoming more and more conformed to the world—both in their clothing and in their life. If one of their teachers lives in sin, they plead God’s grace and say that we must forgive. If they are divorced and re-married, they can continue as a leader. We can see that all these religious people with their various denominational names are merging with the ungodly to become one group; but Jesus has not promised to be in their midst. Matt. 18:19-20.
Satan can easily deceive the ungodly—those who do not call themselves “Christian.” But God is going to send strong delusions to those who call themselves “Christian” in all these religious groups so that they will believe the lie, so that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thess. 2:9-12.
There is a voice from heaven that calls out into this chaos: “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Rev. 18:4-5.
Here we read how these two groups evolve before God’s judgment is executed. As we can see, we need to love the truth to be set free from all deception. “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.” Read 1 Thessalonians 5:4-9.
“For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.” 1 Cor. 11:31-32.
When we are judged, that is the evidence that we love the truth; then we fall into the group that is righteous and still does righteousness; that is holy, and becomes still more sanctified. We are among those who are called to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ through the gospel. 2 Thess. 2:13-14.
