“You Have a Few Names . . .

“You Have a Few Names . . .

even in Sardis, who have not defiled their garments [works]; and they shall walk with Me in white [the bridal garments, which are the righteous acts of the saints], for they are worthy.” Rev. 3:4; 19:8.

We read further in Chapter 3, verse 5: “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life . . . .”

The words of Scripture are very explicit, so they are actually not difficult to understand. However, because one usually does not see what is written, and even less believes what is written, it is difficult to understand and therefore impossible to believe. We read quite plainly that only those who overcome, that is, overcome sin, shall walk with Him in white garments, and only their names will remain in the Book of Life. The others’ names will be blotted out. In other words, they had received God’s grace in vain.

Therefore there should be no doubt whatsoever that many a name that was once written in the Book of Life will be blotted out again because they did not, through faith, attain to an overcoming life!

All the seven letters in Revelation 2 and 3 tell us clearly that the critical question is whether each one overcomes or not.

May we all wake up to utmost seriousness and partake of a glorious, victorious life to God’s glory, praise, and pleasure.
