Jesus’ Brothers

Luke 8:21

They are the ones who hear God’s Word and do according to it. They are Jesus’ true disciples, those who now—in the days of their flesh—learn from Him and become like Him.

They are not just called His brothers; they are brothers in truth. Therefore Jesus is called the firstborn among many brothers. Rom. 8:29.

He is our Lord and Master. However, we are called to be His brothers in truth, and we will also become His brothers during our time of grace. See Matthew 5:45: “That you may be . . . .”

Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers, those who are being sanctified. Of course He does not call them brothers who are not being sanctified. He who sanctifies us does not have unholy brothers. Far from it! Heb. 2:11.
