God Is Mighty
“And God is mighty to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Cor. 9:8.
God is mighty! He can do all things! His depth of wisdom and abundance of love are unsearchable, and all things are ordained for our sanctification and glory. We need not lack anything of that which serves us unto life and godliness. He has all power in heaven and on earth, and He will be with His disciples always, even to the end of the age. Matt. 28:18-20. He equips His disciples with all the grace and strength they need so that they can finish their course to God’s glory.
God is not miserly; He gives all grace in abundance. He gives always in all things so we can have everything we need and can do all good works in abundance. But we must have an intense desire to partake of this abundant life through grace.
The intention is that we come to an abundance of good works through this abundant grace. “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness remains forever.” 2 Cor. 9:9. “While you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.” V. 11. Through these good works Paul caused them to be thankful to God and not to himself. They proved they were obedient to confess the gospel of Christ. V. 13.
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24. All the good things that Paul had said and done were worked by the grace of God, and he gave God the glory.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” 1 Cor. 15:10. “Yet not I” was Paul’s testimony that made him great and glorious. He walked in Jesus’ steps: “Not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:38.
“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” 1 Pet. 5:10.
This applies to the humble to whom God gives abundant grace, but He strongly resists the proud and the haughty. He is mighty to do that. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time . . . .” Vs. 5-6.
God is mighty to give hope to the poor and to stop the mouth of iniquity. Ps. 107:41-42.
