Completing His Work in Us
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ . . . .” Phil. 1:6.
This is a great comfort to all those who know that God has begun a good work in them, that it will be completed until the day of Jesus Christ. He who has begun a good work in us has a goal with His work in us and through us. If nothing of value is done in us, then nothing of value can be done through us.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10.
This work of creation in us is that new creation from which all that is good and new can come and can be a blessing to ourselves and to others. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Cor. 5:17. Now the old man with his works can be put off, and the new man with his good works can be put on. Col. 3:9-10.
We will soon end up as ordinary religious people if the Lord cannot do His work in us. This work in us is a comprehensive work that unites us in one body that is able to walk in the works for which we have been created in order to do them.
Joseph was molded for his princely task. Moses was molded so he could bring order into the most difficult situations, and he became the meekest man on earth. Job was trained and molded by great sufferings to be an example of patience for all the believers. Jas. 5:11.
There is a great need these days for people in whom the Lord can do His inner work, and thus be able to use them in His valuable ministry for the benefit of many.
