“But Rather Give Alms of Such Things That Are Within . . .

then indeed all things are clean to you.” Luke 11:41. What a strange and amazing word this is! To be sure, these are quite different than the customary kind of alms. Even though they are very good and effective, it must nevertheless be rightfully said that the effects of the usual kind of alms are quite weak compared to the alms which Jesus recommends we give.

Of course there is no money inside of us, but rather an incredible amount of self-will that unfortunately, typically clings very tightly to most people, right to the very end.

But think that we—besides giving away money—can give away our self-will, deny it, refuse to acknowledge it, and surrender it into the death of Christ, with this indescribably remarkable result that everything is clean to us!!!

It sounds so unbelievable, along with so many other strong words of God, but it is just as true, even though most people have not believed it. It is the Word of truth by Him who says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6.

The “collection box” for our self-life is the death of Christ. There we can get rid of all our own: our self-will, our self-love, and everything that we, as natural human beings, think and believe— everything that opposes God’s will. We can truly and in reality be crucified with Christ and die with Him so that everything in our life becomes pure! This is our heavenly calling and our goal that shall be reached now, during the dispensation of grace.
