Jesus Came to Serve and to Give

“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” Matt. 4:10. “Who provided for Him from their substance.” Luke 8:3. “Do not labor for the food which perishes . . . .” John 6:27. “But rather let him labor . . . that he may have something to give . . . .” Eph. 4:28.

The sum total of all this is that the very core of Christianity is to live only to serve and to give with everything we have, everything we earn, and everything we receive—when it concerns both spiritual as well as perishable goods. In other words: Live only for the others!

We need to have one main thought: the others, the others! What do they need? What can I do for them? What serves them best? What can I say and what can I give? With what can I make them happy? With what can I strengthen and comfort them? What can I exhort them to? Whom should I write to, and what should I be careful with?

I have very little to no interest in my own earthly possessions; my only interest in them is to use them to serve the others. Their everlasting value is in the service of others. Or I can sell them and give away what I receive for them. Jesus, who only thought of our best, recommended that.

“The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.” Prov. 11:25. This is a glorious, unbreakable law of life!

This is the royal and divine law of love! Follow it with all your heart without exception! It is the main law of all true prosperity!
