Showing Confidence

“Samuel had been established as [was entrusted with being] a prophet of the Lord.” 1 Sam. 3:20.

This means that God had complete confidence in Samuel’s unfailing faithfulness—a degree of faithfulness that is unknown to most people. God judged him to be absolutely faithful in everything, and He did not make a mistake.

Not one of Samuel’s words fell to the ground. All of them were fulfilled; they were unshakable. Paul was also considered faithful, which is the very reason he was put into the ministry of an apostle. 1 Tim. 1:12. God showed a tremendous amount of confidence in him!

God saw that he would never depart from that simple, perfect faithfulness—not under any circumstances—regardless of what might come his way. Not in the least little bit! Think about Paul’s life. Think of his great trials! Think about everything he has written! What an indescribably great effect it has had—and still has!

There is good reason why most converted people have not been entrusted with anything of significance. There ought to be no doubt as to the reason why. Seeing that Samuel and Paul were entrusted with so much beause they showed such an unusually high degree of faithfulness, then the reason that most people are not entrusted with so much must be that this great and important faithfulness is lacking!

Most people are not nearly precise enough—not by any stretch of the imagination—when it concerns all the Word of God in all areas. Their train of thought, both consciously and subconsciously, is something like this: “It can’t be that terribly important; it couldn’t possibly be that serious!” However, that is exactly what it is! It is our calling to keep His Word exactly, for God Himself is exact. The Word of God means exactly what it says!
