See the Son and Believe in Him
“And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40.
This is the Father’s unchanging will. It is our responsibility, therefore, to see the Son and to believe in Him. In 1 John 3:6 we read that someone who commits sin has neither seen Him nor known Him. In 1 Corinthians 15:34 Paul calls out: “Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.” It is a shame to live in sin with the result that one has no knowledge of either His life or His nature. In Ephesians 4:19-20 we read about greed and uncleanness—we have not so learned Christ.
We are to see the Son so we can learn to know Him and receive faith to follow Him. The veil is only taken away from our eyes if we are radically converted, so that we “with unveiled face” can see the glory of the Lord as in a mirror in order to be transformed into that same image from glory to glory. 2 Cor. 3:18.
If we see the Son on the way of obedience in His humiliation, and if we have faith to follow Him, we will also be exalted together with Him. Phil. 2:5-9. “And if [we are] children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Rom. 8:17. If we see the Son in perfect unity with His Father, and if we have faith to come to that same unity, then we will also share the glory with Him for all eternity. “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” Read John 17:21-24.
