“For the Lord, Whose Name Is Zealous, Is a Zealous God.”
God has several names. In the biblical context, a name expresses the essence of a person. This name for God is especially significant! Accordingly, it could (for example) be fitting to pray like this: “Dear Zealous, make me very zealous just as You are!” because we are called to be like Him.
“Elijah answered, “‘I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts . . . .” 1 Kings 19:10. “I . . . was zealous toward God as you all are today.” Acts 22:3. “Being more exceedingly zealous . . . .” Gal. 1:14. “Phinehas . . . was zealous with My zeal.” Num. 25:11. In his burning zeal, Phinehas turned away Zealous’ burning zeal from Israel by thrusting his javelin through a man and a woman who were committing adultery. Read Numbers 25:4 and 7-13.
God became so enthusiastic for Phinehas because he burned with such an extraordinary zeal, the same as Zealous Himself, that He promised him and his descendants an everlasting priesthood! Here we have ample opportunity to come to a better understanding of God than most people have ever had, in accordance with various other similar occurrences. Num. 16; Acts 5:1 ff.; Acts 5:36; Acts 5:36-37.
Take time to meditate on these words! It is sure to be very rewarding! It is time very well spent!
We comprehend the great value of possessing Zealous’ zeal best by immersing ourselves in the astounding truth that we find in Revelation 3:15 and 16. Zealous desires you to be cold rather than lukewarm! He loathes lukewarm Christians so much that He will spew them out of His mouth if they do not become zealous and repent from their lukewarmness.
Zealous Himself, and all those who possess His zeal, are not content with just serious words; they go to action in accordance with their serious words!
The most descriptive expression for their power is: action power!
