Admire = Worship

Admire = Worship

There is a considerable amount of admiring going on in this world, among unbelievers as well as among believers.

What is it that people usually admire? Everything that is huge and fancy, everything that looks good, whether it be things, people, or nature—as well as human talents—as if people had created it themselves.

People admire or worship the creation rather than the Creator! This is absolutely absurd! But the worst of it is when they admire themselves!

The main thing is, and will continue to be, to admire Him who is worthy of all admiration. Read Matthew 4:8-10. Satan tried to destroy Jesus with one blow by tempting Him to fall down and worship and admire him because he offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. But Jesus answered without hesitation: “You shall worship the Lord your God . . . .”

There are two very essential things we need to take to heart: 1) that we do not admire or worship anything on earth—see Isaiah 2 and 3, and 2) that we do not neglect to worship and admire the Lord our God!

It is not enough for us to be occupied only with what we should not be doing, because the positive side is the main thing, and that is to worship God—this on the sound basis of a multitude of admirable qualities and corresponding deeds.

Nevertheless, there is little worship in spite of all these weighty reasons. If there is little prayer, there is doubtless far less worship. Even if there is a good deal of prayer, there is still not much worship.

Worship is the height of perfection; therefore it is the last thing we come to. There is an essential difference between prayer and worship. One prays for what one desires. Worship, however, is admiration of God for everything He has done and is still doing, especially for His amazing, masterly, inconceivably wise leading in our life and ways, for our ultimate happiness, profit, and advantage!!!

Consider Romans 8:28 and 1 Corinthians 10:13 thoughtfully. Imagine—this is what God does! He wants only the best for us! He is able to do it! He faithfully sees to it that it never fails! It does not matter what everyone or anyone does to us! God is in control. How admirable! Worship, brother and sister! Become interested in it!

We are to give everyone their due. First of all, we are to give God what belongs to Him. And to Him belong the power and the glory and all worship, now and in all eternity. Meditate profoundly on this; discover why you ought to worship and adore Him—and make a habit of it!
