The Hand of the Diligent Makes Rich

Proverbs 10:4

That is how it is in earthly matters, and it is exactly the same when it concerns spiritual matters. It is our heavenly calling to become rich in God during our time of grace—rich in all the virtues of Christ, rich in everything that is noble and good and divine, rich in transformation in our inner man.

All this comes through a living faith in the Word of God, in all the laws and words of life. Therefore we read about being “established in the faith” (Col. 2:7) and being “rich in faith.” Jas. 2:5.

“I know your . . . poverty (but you are rich) . . . .” Rev. 2:9. This was a fact. These were Jesus’ own words. And this is God’s resolute will for all those who truly love Him!

In other words, we become rich in good works—because we are diligent, keenly interested, and we possess a flaming zeal for it. Acts 9:36; 1 Tim. 6:18; Tit. 2:14-15.

“For the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.” Rom. 10:12. That is why He is extremely pleased when we ask Him for very much—when it pertains to the life in God! He loves us with such intensity! It is He who more than gladly gives to every hungry and humble person! It is His great joy to give very much, to repay very much, and to reward exceedingly well. We can be rich in hope, rich in everything He has to give us, rich in every way. 2 Cor. 8:7.

Humanly speaking, this is almost unbelievable, but nevertheless it is absolutely true. “Though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” Rom. 8:9. “Enriched in everything to all sincere love.” 2 Cor. 9:11, 9:8.

Not only that, but you can even attain to making many others rich in God. 2 Cor. 6:10.

Who doesn’t need to wake up in deadly earnest?!
