A New Year

We all are going full steam ahead toward eternity. It is a great comfort that everything can become much better than it has been in the years past. We can go from light to light, from strength to strength, and from victory to victory. Even the most wretched person can be saved and transformed into a new man with a new heart and a new Spirit, and with new laws of the Spirit of life within this new heart. The result is a completely new life with new and valuable interests, and with a new name written on his forehead. Rev. 3:12.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Cor. 5:17. Having a longing for the old things is not worth anything anymore. It has only given us anxiety and grief. In this new life we have an inner peace and joy that is unshakable in all of life’s circumstances. Each morning we awaken with thankfulness and joy and meet the new day with grace and new strength. Everything that meets us during the day serves us for our eternal best. If we see the invisible things, all our tribulations will be but for a moment and will work for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Cor. 4:17. Then the New Testament is opened for us and rightfully gives us admission to the enormous riches that are ours as part of our inheritance in the light together with Christ and the saints.

It is totally unnecessary for so many people to be plagued by the accuser; they run the risk of having a breakdown because of discouragement and despair. However, the accuser, that old serpent, has been cast down from heaven, and our intercessor, Jesus Christ, has taken His place on the throne of grace. He is a compassionate and faithful High Priest who was tempted and tried as we are, and He can come to our aid. He can forgive us all the evil we have either said or done, and He opens up a bright and good future for us. If you know of anything that bothers your conscience because of something you have either said or done, then be quick to bring the matter in order. If your conscience bothers you because of something you have either said or done, then be quick to bring the matter into order. If you think it is hard to ask someone for forgiveness, you need to know that it will be much harder if you wait. Bring your matters into order as quickly as possible. God is with you, and the things that seem to be the most hopeless and impossible become possible. You can be set free from these heavy chains in a moment and can run on the new and living way, liberated and glad. You can forget everything that is behind you and reach out for the things that lie ahead. Do not dwell on the things that are behind you, for then the things that are ahead will be ruined in the process.

All the promises belong to the overcomers. There is no victory without a battle, but the battle can and shall be won. The Spirit of faith has never lost a battle.

Let us go into the future with an expectation in our hearts of Jesus’ imminent return. Then we will receive new strength and will lift up our wings like eagles and run without getting tired. Isa. 40:31. Then we can sing with living hope and with joy: “Nearer ‘tis today than before!”
