Gjermund Skreosen
Our dearly beloved brother went home to God on the night of Sunday, July 31, at 47 years old. He was attending a children’s conference at Hessenhöfe, in southern Germany, together with his wife and their seven children. There he was fully and profitably and joyfully engaged.
He felt well when he went to bed, but a few hours later he went home to God peacefully without anyone being aware of it. He had suffered a heart failure.
Jesus was deeply moved when He heard that His good friend, Lazarus was dead, and we read, “Jesus wept.” Brother Skreosen’s death affected many of us in a similar manner. He had become so genuinely dear to us, and his passing happened suddenly and unexpectedly. He was in the prime of life and active in a large and rich spiritual labor.
Brother Skreosen was radically saved in his early youth while he attended the College of Business Administration and Economics in Bergen. He ended his studies when he envisioned a vocation that could enrich his life to a far greater degree.
By being faithful in the hidden and in his earthly circumstances, he grew up to be a servant of the Lord whom God could use to be a great blessing.
In 1958, brother Skreosen travelled to Pforzheim in South Germany to help a splendid youth group, which has developed into a large and glorious church today.
Brother Skreosen was a central pillar in our labors in Central Europe, as well as in the East European countries. With God’s wisdom, he imparted good guidance and comfort. When he led the conferences, meetings, and feasts, the friends felt secure. His spoken messages and his writings were a great blessing, and he was also responsible for editing the German paper, Das Leben.
He was also a strong pillar at our conferences at Brunstad, as well as through his many important articles in Skjulte Skatter (Hidden Treasures). We will also miss him in this area.
His wife has had the same noble and positive attitude. She and her wonderful flock of children will be surrounded and protected by the prayers of the friends.
A humble, good, and faithful brother has gone ahead of us into the heavenly habitation. We will soon follow him, either one by one, or by being gathered together at the sound of the trumpet when Jesus comes again in the clouds. Brother Skreosen’s passing is a wake-up call to all of us to be constantly ready to leave this earth. An abundance of the virtues of Christ will give us an abundant entrance into the kingdom of heaven.
Brother Skreosen was laid to rest in Brevik. The funeral was attended by many from Norway as well as from abroad. The September/October issue of Das Leben will be a commemorative issue.
