Christianity
According to 1 Timothy 1:5, Christianity is to live and to serve others out of love from a pure heart, with a good conscience, and with sincere faith! In verse 6 it is written that some had strayed from these things and had turned aside to idle talk. This is what happened to some of them in those days.
However, the fact is that the majority of “believers” in the entire world (alas, alas) have—because of the ordinarily very superficial preaching—not attained to the true Christianity that is described above. If they haven’t even heard about it, how could they believe it and thus experience it? Neither can you possibly turn away from something that you haven’t even attained to!
However, if you have partaken of this glorious Christian life you can, unfortunately, turn away from it. Just think—to turn away from such a glorious life to something as pathetic and wretched as idle talk!
In 1 Timothy 6:20 it is written, “O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and vain babblings . . . .” Here it is clearly written that this very common empty talk is not just vain and worthless, but that it is also profane! That is crystal clear, for it is certainly not holy!
My beloved friends! Pay serious, special attention to the word profane! And remember Peter’s words, “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’” 1 Pet. 1:15-19.
We are therefore called to be like God (to partake of divine nature while we are here!) in the days of our flesh.
It would certainly be the world’s ultimate irony to imagine that God could also engage in idle, profane talk!?
Therefore declare war against all this profane talk for the rest of your life and believe in perfect victory! Make this stand today! Be quiet first! Then say something good and beneficial!
Stop this flood of words in your daily life! Then speak and write increasingly what is true, good, beneficial, and edifying! Also be careful to speak and to write clearly! Spare no effort in these matters!
The motto is: achieve as much as possible in your life, accomplishing the most and the best possible!
Yours, thus occupied—
