The Blood of Sprinkling

“To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” Heb. 12:24.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom. 5:8. Before Jesus died He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Luke 23:34. Jesus’ blood speaks better things than that of Abel. Jesus’ blood is the blood of sprinkling for the forgiveness of sins. In this blood He entered the Most Holy Place, obtaining an eternal redemption, appearing in the presence of God for us (Heb. 9:12, 24), since He ever lives to make intercession for us. Ch. 7:25.

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest in the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh . . . .” Heb. 10:19-20.

When Jesus entered the Holiest, He entered in with His own blood, which is the blood of sprinkling, in order to intercede for us. In Jesus’ blood we also have boldness to enter into the Holiest. No one can enter there with an accusation. We do not have boldness to do that if we bear a grudge against someone. Only intercessors have boldness to enter in. The way by which we can enter in Jesus’ blood—the blood of sprinkling—is through the flesh. Jesus had to suffer death in the flesh in order to “bring us to God.” 1 Pet. 3:18. Jesus said, “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:37-38. He was born of the seed of David according to the flesh. Rom. 1:3. Of course He could not get this flesh to love His enemies and do good to those who persecuted Him, as He has taught us. Matt. 5:44. Not at all! He had to suffer death in the flesh in order to be a blameless, atoning sacrifice. Heb. 2:14.

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation . . . .” 2 Cor. 5:18-20.

If we are to be an ambassador in Christ’s stead as if God Himself pleaded by us—“We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God”— then we must also go on this way which Jesus consecrated through the flesh. Jesus’ death must also be working in us if Jesus’ life is to be manifested in our body. 2 Cor. 4:10-11. Stephen went this way, not charging them with sin as they stoned him. Acts 7:60. Therefore he saw the heavens opened. He had boldness to enter into the Holiest because he was in Jesus’ blood—the blood of sprinkling.

It doesn’t take much for people to bear a grudge against each other. The result is constant strife, even among religious people. They can speak much about the fullness of the Spirit, but if they do not put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit, they will never have boldness to enter the Holiest. Rom. 8:13; Gal. 5:16. They are not acquainted with the new and living way; consequently, they cannot stand on Christ’s behalf and perform the ministry of reconciliation. The saddest thing of all is that many people hear about the “new and living way”; they also speak about it, but they do not walk on it.

God be praised for all those who, through Jesus’ death, manifest Jesus’ life and have boldness to enter into the Holiest as intercessors in Jesus’ blood and do not charge people with their transgressions.
