The Light of Life
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12.
The heavenly light is ignited in our hearts by a living faith in God’s Word. The Word is the true light, and I am the light of the world to the same degree that I believe the Word and live it.
Only by following Jesus on the way of the cross and self-denial can the light of life constantly radiate from us. In all of life’s situations it was always light, good, and peaceful in the hearts of the five wise virgins. The light shone into their own lives, and they let it shine into the lives of others through the Spirit of faith that they possessed. Light produces joy and development, whereas darkness is terrible.
In these days there is a battle going on between light and darkness as never before. The light is clearly separated from darkness and all the works of darkness. The Spirit that is in the Prince of Light and in the children of light overcomes the prince of darkness and the spirit that rules there. If we live according to our self-will instead of denying it, it will become dark for us. By walking in the light—in Jesus’ steps—we will see whether something we plan on doing is wise or foolish in God’s eyes.
As children of the light we are approaching a bright and glorious future. It never has to become dark for us. The light that has been ignited in our hearts is eternal and shall continue to shine in God’s mansions.
Jesus was the first heavenly light on earth, and since then this heavenly light has been ignited in many hearts. Jesus will fetch these heavenly lights at His imminent return, and He will neither see nor know the others.
The times are evil and difficult when it concerns getting our children to come along into the light and life. However, the evil will become only greater through unbelief and anxiety, and that will just make things worse. Only if we fight the good fight of faith will we gain the victory. The light shone for Abraham when he believed in hope against all human hope. Do not let the desire for honor weigh you down when it concerns your children’s salvation.
Let us believe that God has a perfect and good plan for us and our children. We can rejoice beforehand by faith, and we shall not be put to shame. We must be on guard against all kinds of indifference in our battle to save our children, making sure that we watch our hearts so that unrest, anxiety, and doubt do not enter in.
When we come to God in prayer, we must believe that He loves us and hears our prayers. “For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.” Jas. 1:6-7. By faith we are united with heavenly powers, but unbelief will unite us with the opposite.
“Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40. We must praise God for the great victory that has been gained in the spirit world. A large and splendid flock of children and young people has been set free from the powers of darkness, and they praise God in our midst. The heavenly light has been ignited in their hearts, and they are a light and a joy both at home and elsewhere. Many more will yet come. It is a time of revival and harvesting among us. It shall succeed through a living faith and preaching the Word of faith. This is where all of us must fight for everyone.
Let us do like Jesus. He drank of the brook by the wayside and lifted up His head. Ps. 110:7.
