The Seed of Abraham
“For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.” Heb. 2:16.
Who are the seed of Abraham? “For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Rom. 4:13. “Nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, ‘In Isaac your seed shall be called.’” Rom. 9:7-8. “Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.” Gal. 3:7. “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” V. 26. “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” V. 29.
We see that those who have the faith of Abraham are the seed of Abraham, and they are the ones whom Jesus helps. They are the ones whom He can help in temptation so that they do not sin. Heb. 2:18, 4:15-16.
“Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Rom. 4:3. By faith he gained access into the grace of receiving Isaac, the son of promise, who was to come from his own body. Rom. 5:2.
We have such exceedingly great promises by which we may be partakers of divine nature. 2 Pet. 1:4. All those who have come to faith in the promises are the seed of Abraham. They are righteous, and they have access into the grace in Christ Jesus, so that sin cannot rule over them. Rom. 6:14. Jesus helps all of them, and the promises are being fulfilled in their lives.
