Gain

Read in the Bible concordance under this heading. There you will find, by way of glaring contrast, that there are two widely different kinds of gain; namely, worthless gain, and true gain.

Worthless gain is money and everything you can buy for money, as well as the honor of man and the opportunity of doing your own will and following your sinful lusts.

True gain is all the salvation and everlasting glory that can be gained with true godly fear, by faith in God’s Word and obedience to it and to all the laws of the Spirit of life. In other words, true gain is all the virtues of Christ, as many of them as possible, together with winning people, helping them to be saved and edifying them in every possible way, being faithful servants of the Lord, being fellow-workers, and performing the good ministry of a shepherd to the best of your ability, and many other things.

Earning money in order to give to others does not in any way fall under the heading of worthless gain! On the contrary!

Your fellow brother whose living interest is only in all true gain—
