Perfect Unity
Almost no one ever believed in perfect unity. John 17. This is of course obvious, because it is evident that it is the most difficult subject! However, by way of recompense, it is also the most glorious of everything that can be mentioned. Then our relationship to each other is, to a certain degree, as Jesus Himself stated it: it is the same as the relationship between the Father and the Son.
Perfect unity corresponds to walking in the light as He is in the light. 1 John 1:7. Then, in the deepest and truest sense of the word, we have fellowship with one another. Simply the act of sinning, of committing conscious sin, falling in what you are tempted to, can cause a breach in fellowship or unity. What is unconscious does not break fellowship or perfect unity for the good reason that it is definitely not imputed by God. It would be unrighteous of God, and therefore it is explicitly excluded.
Perfect unity and perfect fellowship consists of faithfulness in everything. Each single breach of faithfulness is a breach in unity and fellowship. It is a matter of fellowship in life. Believing the same doctrine and the same theory definitely does not produce fellowship in life.
Almost no one believes in fellowship in life. And therefore it is impossible for them to partake of it.
The prerequisite for life-fellowship is that you also do not go beyond your limits, and do not allow yourself to have your own peculiar opinion about anything at all, that you are sufficiently humble to acknowledge that you understand neither this nor that which God has still not revealed to you. This, in turn, makes it possible to live peaceably in glorious fellowship with those who possess more light and with those who possess less light than you.
Then you use the many opportunities to agree with other like-minded ones instead of—as usual—using every seemingly golden opportunity to contradict.
We are exhorted to live peaceably with all men if it is at all possible. Rom. 12:18. It is, rightly understood, almost always possible. It is always possible to keep the peace when it concerns all the earthly things, because all of them are of minor importance. Therefore it is always possible among all those few who walk in the light as He is in the light!
