God’s Wisdom

The advantage of possessing God’s wisdom is described in a peculiar way in Ecclesiastes 10:10. It is absolutely amazing, and almost unbelievable!

It has the advantage that “it does everything in the right way.” Then we must say, “Silence, what more do you desire.”1 The right way can be said to be that what you wish and what you do is beneficial for you and for others. The opposite must therefore be said to be absolute folly and madness.

As a result, we are in dire need of this wisdom of God, the wisdom that possesses such a wonderful quality!

All God’s Word—both doctrine and exhortations—is full of wisdom. Therefore it is pure folly to do anything differently from what is written there, or to show little interest in reading in it, or to think little about what is written there.

Being merciful is wise. It benefits me and others. Loving is wise because then we are loved in return. Believing in God and His Word is wise, for then the Word is fulfilled, and then we receive what we pray for according to His will, receiving a wonderful rest in our inner being.

Being anxious for anything is pure folly, because it neither helps you nor others. On the contrary! Being discouraged doesn’t help either. Far from it! To be generous is beneficial for me and for others. Being generous and everything else that is good is part of wisdom. “Give, and it will be given to you . . . .” Luke 6:38.

Lying for the sake of gain is total madness because liars end up in the lake of fire.

Being a busybody in other people’s matters, which is, unfortunately, very common—also among believers—is great folly because then you cannot avoid many unnecessary sufferings, for then you have incurred them yourself. What folly!

Neglecting to come together with brothers and sisters in the Lord is great stupidity, for there the Lord has commanded the blessing. Ps. 133.

Being lukewarm, lackadaisical, lazy, and indifferent are some of the greatest follies to be found, because I will be spewed out of His mouth if I do not repent from my lukewarmness. Rev. 3:16.

“Anger rests in the bosom of fools.Eccl. 7:9. This is very noteworthy! To get angry when something gets broken, for example, is great folly! There is no help in that, because anger does not make it whole again.

Forgiving others all the bad things they are doing is pure wisdom, because then I myself receive forgiveness, not otherwise! Luke 11:4. Judging others harshly is very foolish because then I will be correspondingly harshly judged by God. Condemning others is insanely stupid because then I will be condemned myself. Luke 6:37.

Humbling myself is pure wisdom, for then I will be exalted in truth. Exalting myself is utter folly, for then God will faithfully see to it that I will be humbled. Luke 18:14.

Being conceited is unadulterated folly, for then God forsakes me and leaves me to myself and my imagined cleverness and its bad fruits. Job 37:24.

Being arrogant, high-minded, proud, and puffed up is the greatest folly in existence, for then I will not only not receive grace, but then God resists me! Jas. 4:6. Imagine having God as your opponent! Alas, alas!

Therefore, consciously seek with the utmost seriousness to receive God’s wisdom as your possession. Jas. 1:5-8; 1 John 5:14-15.
