Discontentment
“I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content . . . .” Phil. 4:11. Until today there are very few people among all the believers who have learned this. I sincerely hope that there will be many more after this!
Having an active faith in Romans 8:28 while being discontented with anything at all is absolutely impossible! That would be a contradiction in terms.
If you are dissatisfied with anything other than yourself, you do not possess an active faith in Romans 8:28, the faith that all things work together for good to those who love God. You cannot be discontented when everything possible is working together for your good!!!
In some other translations it even says that all things work together for our best! It sounds like a fairy tale that God, in His indescribably great power, goodness, and wisdom guides everything like that!
Everything and everyone must—whether they want to or not—work together for our best. They must even work together to that end without wanting to and without realizing it!
If I believe this is God’s Word, how could I then be discontented with it or wish it were different??? That would be impossible to do.
It is evident in daily life by what can both be heard and seen, that most people do not believe in this astounding and glorious Word!
Living faith in this one word would be sufficient to make anyone perfectly happy, bringing him / her to perfect rest in God during life’s many twists and turns! The Lord be highly praised! His life-giving Word be highly praised!
It is normal for people to be discontented with all kinds of things and all kinds of people. For some people it is just as natural as it is to breathe. This is very unfortunate! They do not forget anything.
Alas, alas! What a multitude of discontented people there are in this world! There is even a multitude of converted people who are habitually dissatisfied with all kinds of things instead of being filled with a sincere, profound, and overflowing thankfulness!
It is plainly and clearly written that it is God’s will for us to give thanks for all things! This is, so to speak, automatically fulfilled by a living, active faith in Romans 8:28, but not otherwise.
Therefore, lay hold of a brand new living faith in this extremely miraculous truth!
Thankful brothers and sisters in the Lord are true refreshment, a foretaste of heavenly glory, especially when this glorious thankfulness and contentment is always, and without exception, present and active.
If you have not completely put off your discontentment, then it is still alive. This cannot be contradicted. However, it is better late than never! Out with it now!
Your always thankful—
