Our House

“Wisdom has built her house.” Proverbs 9:1. This is the only building that will remain on the day when every man’s work will be tested by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:13. Wisdom has the advantage of doing all things right. Therefore it is of great significance that we become acquainted with the laws of wisdom early in life.

We are His house by faith, and this house shall be filled with spiritual things. Hebrews 3:6; 1 Peter 2:5. This did not succeed for the three kinds of people that are mentioned in the parable of the sower. Luke 8:5-15. The devil managed to devour the life that should have brought them spiritual content through their trials and temptations. The same situation existed in the life of the angel of the church in Sardis. He had a name that he was alive, yet his works were not perfect before God. Revelation 3:1-2.

Having a reputation for being a child of God is vanity if you are not building an inner house according to the laws of God. We cannot take anything with us to heaven, except for the wisdom and the truth that have become our life. 2 John 2. This is what our High Priest will offer in heaven. Hebrews 8:3.

The devil is trying with all his might to devour Christ in us, so that at the end of our lives we will be stripped of all spiritual content. 1 Peter 5:9. God be praised that there is still grace and wisdom to be had for all those who are serious about serving God, and who exalt Jerusalem above their chief joy. Psalm 137:6. It will succeed if we are sincere and take this matter seriously.

Wisdom will not dwell with those who will not desist fully and completely from sinning. You must put all things right, forsake everything, and be willing to suffer all things. Then you can start building your house on the Rock that will not be moved throughout all eternity.

Wisdom has slaughtered her beasts. Everything that rises up during the building process (for example: wanting to be something, love of pleasure, or drawing back) has to be slaughtered radically and thoroughly. Jesus said that all those who would follow Him must take up their cross daily and deny themselves. If you would be fit for the kingdom of heaven, you cannot look back. Luke 9:62. Then you will receive the witness in your spirit that you have a building with God, a house not made with hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1.

Saul soundly defeated all the enemies of Israel, but he did not do what wisdom would have done: slaughter her beasts. He harbored envy and thoughts of greatness, which led to the fall of his house. The five foolish virgins had the outside in order as well. They had lamps, but no oil. They had not put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit, which is what produces the oil. Romans 8:13. They avoided those difficulties in life which would have caused a crushing of their self-life. Life is brief and serious. You can only build something eternal by being in a watchful and sober state.

We are familiar with how Saul and the five foolish virgins failed the test. May we not fail the test in our lives. Let us live by the word of God so that we can receive food. Let us labor in prayer and have this always before us: we shall become a spiritual house, built according to the laws of wisdom.
