Who Has Properly Paid Heed to Matthew 18:2-4?
The answer is: everyone who has been converted from his imagined self-importance, from all obstinacy, stubbornness, willfulness, the love to argue and dispute, and who is quiet and peaceful in all of life’s circumstances, trusting and innocent like a little child.
Only such people are in the kingdom of heaven, for Jesus said that no one else can enter in!
What is the “advantage” of having become an adult? Whatever it is, you have to be converted from it! The main “advantage” for adults is, first of all that they have become so “wise” that it is not difficult for them to doubt. This is a highly uncertain wisdom and achievement!!! Next, they have become very accomplished in entertaining exalted thoughts about themselves, to argue, protest and easily have all kinds of problems and complexes.
A little child has no understanding of all this and how to deal with it. In a manner of speaking, he is completely free from all this doubtful glory!!! Suspecting someone of one thing or another or being jealous of someone or making comparisons to others to discover who is the greatest, or demanding something—a little child doesn’t understand any of these things!
But what have those who are childlike lost in being this way? Happiness? No, on the contrary! It is very significant that when old, grown-up sinners see a little child in a baby carriage, their faces light up momentarily at the thought of when they were a little child, innocent, trusting, and peaceful.
Imagine if everyone knew of the possibility of making themselves little so that they became like a little child again!!! Read Matthew 18:2-4 over and over again.
Your childlike, exceedingly happy—
