“Therefore Pray the Lord of the Harvest to Send Out Laborers into His Harvest.”

How meaningful that God is the Lord of the harvest! And how significant that it concerns harvesting, for you harvest only what is mature! People mature unto salvation by growing tired of themselves and all their possessions, by growing weary of having to draw water from broken cisterns, by growing weary of everything that the world has to offer.

This gives rise to a profound sorrow and poverty, a hunger and thirst for true life and true happiness.

In this state a person receives the gospel, the glad tidings, that it will surely succeed to partake of a glorious, overcoming life while we are in this world. Such people are to be harvested. This is precisely why we must look for such people!

This is the exact opposite of arguing with people in order to get them to be converted.

It is also significant that the laborers are sent out! It is also very significant that God does not send out experts in rhetoric, but laborers, those who have a mind to perform labors of sacrifice faithfully, all the days of their lives until the end.
