Do You Lack Wisdom?
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” Jas. 1:5-8.
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” Jas. 3:17.
If anyone lacks wisdom, i.e., to do good, let him pray. The person who has this aim with what he says and does, his prayer will also be answered. Just about everyone wants a situation to be good, that there shall be peace, but they also want to be right. They also want to gain honor and some earthly advantages. Such a person is double-minded. He must not believe that he will receive anything from God.
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.” Jas. 3:13.
It is not wisdom to seek your own. However, if our sole desire is that it might be good and blessed, whether it concerns married life, raising children, our place of employment, or the church, we can pray with boldness, and God will give us wisdom. It will succeed for all of us who have this one mind. Ps. 1:2-3.
