Something That Most People Do Not Understand Properly!

What it means is that they do not believe it! The main reason for not believing it is that they meditate far too little on God’s laws and commandments and on the laws of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, or they are unbelieving, or both.

What people understand poorly, or do not understand at all, is the huge difference that God makes between those who have come to be absolutely faithful and reliable, steadfast and unchangeable, holy and pure, and those who have still not become like that, whether they seek to be like it or not.

The Scriptures testify very clearly and powerfully about this! However, it doesn’t help if you do not see it or are not avidly interested in seeing it as it really is!

God rewards. He is also an avenging God! He repays everyone according to his works! He pays and rewards, and He pays and rewards powerfully and liberally!

This is actually not so difficult to understand. On the contrary, it is a matter of course. Otherwise good and evil would be on an equal footing. Otherwise there would be no difference or just an insignificant difference between faithfulness and unfaithfulness, between humility and conceit and arrogance!

However, everyone ought to understand that there is an immense, great difference! They are complete, glaring opposites!!! For an example, see Joshua, Chapter 1: “Then [not otherwise] you will have good success.” “Then [not otherwise] you will make your way prosperous . . . .” V. 8. “For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” V. 9.

“Only be strong and very courageous . . . .” V. 7. God cannot say this to faint-hearted, indifferent, unfaithful, impure, conceited brothers and sisters. Then they would get the wrong idea that it didn’t matter how they thought, talked, and lived! Then they would become impertinent!!!

This is the folly of the usual religiosity; as far as it is concerned, black and white are the same! It doesn’t matter whether a person sins more or less, for God is gracious and forgives everything.

Up to a certain point, this can also apply to many of those who hear God’s Word in Spirit and in truth. This is how fast asleep people can be! We need constant revival to love and the fear of God.

We could state it with the following words: All true light of life, all growth and progress causes us to see the exceedingly great difference between good and evil, faithfulness and unfaithfulness, holy and unholy, noble and ignoble—more and more!!!

Example: “Let Your Thummim and Urim [light and perfection] be with Your holy one . . . .” It belongs only to saints [holy ones]. Only they are entrusted with such things. Deut. 33:8. It would be wasteful and careless to entrust others with it.

Is God really that exact? Yes, very much so! As it is written in Psalms 90:11: Who knows the power of His anger and His wrath? He is very angry at everything that is sinful—more than anyone knows!

He mightily resists all the unfaithful and impertinent people, and He is mightily for all the wholehearted, holy, faithful, and pious brothers and sisters. He is far more with them and for them than they suspect. Unfortunately, the unfaithful and impertinent have no idea what they are losing and missing because of their foolishness.

The sum total of all this is: 1) It is an indescribable, everlasting, and true gain to be faithful in everything, in small and great things. 2) Every failure to be faithful is eternal loss.

Therefore: faithfulness, holiness, purity, piety to the utmost! No exceptions!
