Honoring and Worshiping the Creation Rather Than the Creator

Romans 1:25

What foolishness! What madness! If we are enthusiastic for and worship the creation, how much more should we not worship, honor, praise, and adore Him who created it! We should love Him, admire Him, and serve Him alone! We should worship Him and pay close attention to His words in order to obey them in every detail, esteeming Him and considering Him alone worthy of being worshiped!

Everything else that a person admires and worships are idols! All of us are in dire need of this exhortation! “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:21.

The Creator—He is the true and living God—the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Their entire creation, including their work, is idols. The completely uncontrolled idolatry is the cultivation and worship of the woman, or the opposite sex; but not only that, it is the worshiping of everything that is beautiful to look at and everything that is great and exalted, refined and modern, impressive and grand, highly educated and capable.

Read thoroughly and reflectively in Isaiah, Chapters 2 and 3, and you will receive valuable insight into how God views the adoration and worship of everything He has created, and man’s worship of all kinds of vanity, adornment, and megalomania!!! Consider it well and good and long and often! It will be very rewarding!

“Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.” Isa. 2:8. This was also something to worship; in other words, they admired and worshiped themselves!

“For the day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything that is proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up—and it shall be brought low—upon all the cedars of Lebanon . . . upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up; upon every high tower . . . [upon all the beautiful luxury liners; such a ship was once so skillfully constructed, they boasted that it could not sink. It went to the bottom on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic!!!], upon everything that is beautiful to look at.” Isa. 2:10-16. “But the idols He shall utterly destroy.” V. 18. Of course there will be such a day. However, it is vital that now, during the time of grace, we become completely finished of our own free will with all this many-faceted idolatry that is so very common among converted people. Unfortunately, most of them are scarcely converted!

“In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which they made, each for himself to worship, to the moles and bats, to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the crags of the rugged rocks, from the terror of the Lord and the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake the earth mightily.” Vs. 20-21.

Impress God’s view of these matters thoroughly on your and other people’s hearts! It is His view of the matter, and His alone, is definitive, for He is both Savior and Judge. As for your opinion, it is worse than nothing. Think about it!

Likewise, take God’s view of women’s penchant for finery and its pure insanity deeply and seriously to heart, as described in Isaiah 3:16-26. Take His vengeance to heart!

Pay particular attention to verses 22 and 23: “festal apparel” and “fine linen.” God is also angry at them. This is in complete harmony with the writings in the new covenant. It is not only jewelry that is reprehensible but also adorning yourself with fine apparel (Danish translation: “various garments.”) 1 Pet. 3:3; 1 Tim. 2:9. “But godliness with contentment is great gain . . . . And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” 1 Tim. 6:6-8. It says very simply, “clothing,” not “fine clothing,” not “new clothing,” not “much clothing.”

It happens that preachers and others boast of being “biblical,” and that they proclaim the full gospel. But unfortunately, there is usually quite a lack in this area. Most of them are quite unbiblical, for example, when it concerns the aforementioned things.
