Where Do Wars and Fights Come From Among You?

This is a particularly apt question because it also contains a particularly important truth. And this truth is that all wars and fights come from the same source. It is always where sinful lusts are active.

People are fooled by Satan, who is a liar and the father of lies. They try to imagine and make others imagine that they are fighting for truth and justice. This is one of Satan’s biggest tall tales, one of his worst lies. It is good that we have the Scriptures as our perfect guideline that cannot be improved. God be highly praised!

Jesus’ words concerning this matter in Matthew 5:9 are exceptionally powerful words: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” The opposite of being peaceable is being contentious, and the opposite of being a son of God is a son of the devil.

Those who contend and fight live as sons of the devil even though it was their intention to be sons of God. What terrible seriousness!!!

I wish every brother and sister would, according to this, truly fear to start out on such a slippery slope!

Instead of fighting, make every effort earnestly to suffer whatever it takes to avoid a breach in peaceableness, in order to avoid the outrageous scandal of living as a son of the devil and bringing such a reproach over God’s holy name!
