If We Hold Fast the Confidence and the Rejoicing of the Hope Firm to the End

Hebrews 3:6

This word tells us with all desirable clarity that it is not only good and glorious to have a living hope, and that this hope fills us with great joy, but that this hope and the subsequent confidence [boldness] (2 Cor. 3:12) are an absolute requirement for being a part of His house, or in other words, being a part of His body.

Thus it is either / or! Everything either stands or falls with or without a living hope. It is absolutely vital for life that this hope is fully assured and alive!

“The rejoicing of the hope” is a particularly noteworthy expression! Compare this to “Rejoice in Christ Jesus,” in Philippians 3:3. First of all, it tells us that we glory in or praise this effective hope, and secondly that we rejoice in it!

We praise and bless God because He, in His great grace, has really granted us and given us such a hope and because it is living, and actively present in our hearts and lives. The Lord be highly praised for this blessed hope that He will finish this work of transformation that He has begun, and continues to do, in our inner man. Phil. 1:6.

God be praised for the everlasting, indescribable glory that is then waiting for us! This is quite a hope! What a hope this is!!!
