Bearing About Jesus’ Death and Life
“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Cor. 4:10.
We bear about Jesus’ life and glory in our body to the same degree that we bear about Jesus’ death—a death over the desires of our body. These are the ones who bear about Christ’s glory in their homes, in the church, and wherever they go. When Christ returns, they will take this glory with them into heaven. They will bear the glory of the new city coming down from heaven to the new earth. Rev. 21:2.
These are the results of bearing Jesus’ death in our body during our brief sojourn on earth. By the Spirit of Christ it is fully possible to put to death everything in our flesh that protests against God’s good and acceptable will.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.” Gal. 5:16. This is definitely a glorious and liberating gospel that sets us free from bondage to sin to serve the living God, so we can bear fruit that lasts for all eternity.
