No Glory Without Sufferings

The prophets testified of the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 1 Pet. 1:11.

We have been called to an eternal glory in Christ Jesus after we have suffered a while. 1 Pet. 5:10.

If indeed we suffer with Him, we will also be glorified together. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Rom. 8:17-18.

This is written with reference to the glory in the resurrection, but the same words can also be applied to us in this life. The glory is the virtues of Christ—that we cease from sin. No one ceases from sin without suffering in the flesh, but then he is also finished with it. 1 Pet. 4:1.

Now the question is whether we have received the light Paul had: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” The sufferings in the flesh are not to be compared to partaking of patience. Do we see the glory of being patient so great that we do not consider the sufferings that result from humbling ourselves or from being humbled??? If we do, then we have received the light of the gospel. Then this word will be fulfilled in our life: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Cor. 4:17.

Then our life on earth will be rich and valuable to us. Then we gather treasures in heaven.
